The Mustard Seed to offer on-site care and Christmas Day meal for guests this week

Dec 22, 2025 | 11:02 AM

This week, the Mustard Seed in Red Deer will offer shelter-based support for its guests during its annual holiday programming.

Organizers say from Dec. 22-26, they’ll offer a traditional Christmas Day meal and on-site care, which they say will ensure comfort, dignity, and connection for shelter guests.

“Christmas is a time for joy and togetherness, but for many of our neighbours, it can also bring hardship and heartache,” said David Conrad, Director of Community & Volunteer Engagement at The Mustard Seed. “At The Mustard Seed, we are grateful for the communities that come alongside us with generosity and compassion. Together, we can ensure everyone has something to celebrate this Christmas.”

So far throughout December, The Mustard Seed has provided meals and seasonal programming at the Red Deer Community Impact Centre, helping ensure those in need have consistent access to food during the holiday season.

Red Deerians can support The Mustard Seed this Christmas by donating, volunteering, and helping spread the word. They say financial support will help provide meals and essential supports; meanwhile, volunteers play a vital role in supporting programming.
