Lacombe Police Service conducts impaired driving check stop

Dec 22, 2025 | 9:56 AM

The Lacombe Police Service made multiple arrests during an impaired driving check stop last Friday, Dec. 19.

That day, police observed a U-Haul truck, and the driver was suspected of being intoxicated. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled southbound from Lacombe. Police pursued the suspect, and with help from the Red Deer RCMP, a tire-deflation device was used to stop the U-Haul.

As a result, a 38-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were arrested and face multiple charges.

Additionally, during the same check stop, another vehicle attempted to evade police but was stopped.

Police say a 48-year-old man was arrested for driving while suspended, and afterwards, police found over an ounce of cocaine. The man was additionally charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Red Deer Court of Justice in early 2026.
