The County of Stettler council has approved the final recommendations for the allocation of the 2026 Recreation Special Project Funding.

They approved the funding at the regular council meeting on Dec. 10, where the Regional Recreation Board gave its final recommendations to council.

The county says these recommended projects are meant to enhance recreational infrastructure, improve accessibility and safety, and strengthen community spaces throughout the County of Stettler.

“Recreation facilities play a vital role in the health, connection, and quality of life in our rural communities,” said Larry Clarke, Reeve for the County of Stettler No. 6. “These recommended projects reflect council’s ongoing commitment to supporting safe, accessible, and well-maintained community spaces that serve residents across the County of Stettler. We are grateful to the volunteer organizations and community groups whose dedication helps make these projects possible.”

The maximum funding available through the Recreation Special Project Reserve, the county explained, is $50,000.

As a result, the Regional Recreation Board recommended approval of projects totalling $49,999.32.
