Rebels trade for Cougars forward Patrick Sopiarz

The Red Deer Rebels completed a trade with the Prince George Cougars on Monday morning.

They acquired forward Patrick Sopiarz in the trade, sending a third-round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft via Calgary and a conditional fourth-round selection in 2029 to the Cougars.

The 17-year-old from Edmonton has two goals and one assist in 29 games so far this season. During the 2024-25 campaign in Prince George, Sopiarz had three points in 50 games.

Standing six feet tall and approximately 190 pounds, he was a third-round pick of the Cougars, 63rd overall, at the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
