Three charged after gun and drug seizure in Red Deer

Two men and one woman have been arrested on numerous charges following a seizure of drugs and weapons in Red Deer on Dec. 5.

RCMP say several units searched a home in the area of Devonshire, seizing a loaded handgun, a shotgun and ammo, 22 grams of fentanyl, 133 grams of cocaine, 329 grams of crystal meth, plus a quantity of GHB, 600 unstamped cigarettes, and $12,000 in Canadian currency.

The handgun was determined to have been stolen from an alleged break and enter in Blackfalds, police add.

As a result of this investigation, Red Deer RCMP have charged:

Johnathan Paron, a 43-year-old resident of Red Deer, with:

  • Possession for the purpose of Trafficking x4
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition without licence
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Possession of prohibited weapon knowing possession unauthorized
  • Possession of firearm knowing possession unauthorized
  • Weapon possession contrary to order x4
  • Fail to comply with release order condition
  • Consumer possess/sell cigarettes not marked for sale

Cameron Kitchen, a 39-year-old resident of Red Deer, with:

  • Trafficking controlled substance x4
  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Consumer possess/ sell cigarettes not marked for sale

Ashley Blakely, a 39-year-old resident of Red Deer, with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking x4
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition without licence
  • Unsafe storage of firearm
  • Possession of prohibited weapon knowing possession unauthorized
  • Consumer possess/ sell cigarettes not marked for sale
  • Fail to comply with undertaking condition
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

All have been remanded into custody.

Interim Release Hearings and are scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Dec. 11.
