RCMP investigating fatal pedestrian collision near Red Deer

Blackfalds RCMP are investigating the cause of a fatal collision involving a pedestrian near Red Deer Monday.

On Dec. 8, 2025, at 11:55 a.m., Blackfalds RCMP were dispatched to the southbound lanes of Highway 2, just north of McKenzie Road in Gasoline Alley.

According to Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, Alberta RCMP K Division, upon arrival, emergency crews found a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. The preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was trying to cross the highway.

The deceased has been identified as a 31-year-old Red Deer woman.

Police say the collision closed a portion of the southbound lanes of the QE2 near Red Deer for several hours.
