CPKC Holiday train to arrive in central Alberta on Dec. 8

The 2025 Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train will return to central Alberta next week.

The train will make stops in central Alberta on Dec. 8 and 9 and will continue through Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan until it wraps up on Dec. 21.

The Holiday Train began in Quebec in November and continued through Ontario before reaching the Prairies in December, helping raise food, money and awareness for local food banks and food pantry organizations.

They accomplish this goal by also spreading holiday cheer across Canada.

“Every year, our railroaders take great pride in bringing the Holiday Train across our network, this year reaching even more communities for the first time,” said Keith Creel, CPKC President and CEO, in a media release. “We are thrilled to send this beautiful train filled with lights and music to spread the joy of the season and proud to support the giving spirit of the holidays, assisting people experiencing food insecurity. It’s incredible to see communities come together every year to celebrate the holidays while supporting local food banks.”

On each stop, CPKC donates to the local food banks and encourages all attendees to do the same. Those in attendance also get to take in a free concert by a professional musician on a stage in front of the train.

They’ll make the following stops in Central Alberta:

• Dec. 8 – Ponoka at 50 Street & 47 Avenue, from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. with a performance by Jade Eagleson and Teigen Gayse.
• Dec. 8 – Lacombe at Len Thompson Fish Pond, from 7 to 7:30 p.m. with a performance by Jade Eagleson and Teigen Gayse.
• Dec. 8 – Blackfalds at CPKC tracks at Gregg Street between Broadway Avenue & East Avenue, from 8:15 to 8:45 p.m. with a performance by Jade Eagleson and Teigen Gayse.
• Dec. 9 – Innisfail at 50 Street railway crossing, from 12:55 to 1:25 p.m. with a performance by Jade Eagleson and Teigen Gayse.
• Dec. 9 – Olds at 50 Street railway crossing, from 2:30 to 3 p.m. with a performance by Jade Eagleson and Teigen Gayse.
• Dec. 9 – Didsbury at 20 Street & 18 Avenue, from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. with a performance by Jade Eagleson and Teigen Gayse.

Since 1999, CPKC says the Holiday Train has raised over $26 million and collected approximately 5.4 million pounds of food for community food banks in Canada and the U.S.
