Rebels to host annual Toque and Teddy Bear Toss game on Saturday

The Red Deer Rebels’ annual Toque and Teddy Bear Toss game is set for this Saturday.

They’ll take on the Prince Albert Raiders at 6 p.m. at the Centrium, where, after the Rebels score their first goal, fans will throw toques, mitts, gloves, scarves, and teddy bears onto the ice in support of the Red Deer Christmas Bureau.

The Christmas Bureau said on its website that it’s looking for new winter items to keep children in the community warm this winter.

If you come to the game and don’t have anything to throw on the ice, the Christmas Bureau said they’ll have items for purchase for $5. Just look for their volunteers wearing red plaid aprons. Plastic bags will also be available to keep the items clean.

The Rebels are currently in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with a 9-12-1-2 record. Red Deer has slowly been building momentum, posting a winning record over the last 10 games at 5-3-1-1.

However, before Saturday’s game, the Rebels have two matchups this week, including a clash with the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday night in Lethbridge. They’ll then head to Edmonton on Friday to face off against the Oil Kings.
