The Red Deer Rebels have traded starting goaltender Chase Wutzke and a second round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft to the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The club made the announcement on Saturday morning, and in exchange, they received a first-round pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft (via Kelowna), a third-round pick in 2026 (via Calgary), a second-round pick in 2027, a fourth-round pick in 2028, and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2029.

The 19-year-old goaltender was selected 40th overall by the Rebels in the second round of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.

This season, he has three wins and five losses in net for the Rebels with a 2.75 goals-against average, .889 save-percentage, and one shutout.

In total, he’s suited up in 102 career games with the team, posting a 43-40-7-3 record, 3.17 goals-against-average, .896 save-percentage, and three shutouts. He also posted a 4-2-1 record, 2.48 GAA and .924 save percentage in seven playoff appearances.

Wutzke was selected by the Minnesota Wild in round five, 142nd overall, at the 2024 NHL Draft and right before the season started this year, he signed an entry-level contract with the Wild.

The Rebels were in need of a first-round selection in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft after they dealt their pick to the Kamloops Blazers in 2022 as part of the trade to acquire defenceman Mats Lindgren.

Lindgren played three seasons in Red Deer and is now a part of the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League.
