Limited spots left for Red Deer Ghost Walk tour

Limited openings remain for a series of night-time Ghost Walk tours happening Oct. 30 and Nov. 1, offered by the Red Deer Native Friendship Society.

This is the third year the walks are being offered, with start times of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. each day.

Participants will experience a 1.6 kilometre walking tour with a spooky element that combines history with authentic stories that originated in Red Deer.

For $30 per person, the walk begins with a ceremony which honours ancestors and sets the intentions for the walk.

Nadine Szakacs with the RDNFS Nanâtawihowin Program, lays out what you can expect if taking part.

“We will touch on the Red Deer history and some of the known ghost stories in Red Deer that have existed over the years. We also make sure to include the Indigenous perspective to it, whether it be the paranormal with the Windigo or skinwalkers; we bring those stories into the current day,” she says.

“We’ve gone down some real rabbit holes to tell these ghost stories which have existed since the late 1800s. With the Indigenous stories, we get into where they originated, and they are well-researched.”

The walk takes about 90-120 minutes.

Ticket proceeds support important youth programming at the Friendship Centre.
