Rebels string together wins for first time this season

Oct 24, 2025 | 10:11 PM

For the first time this season, the Red Deer Rebels have won consecutive games.

Hosting the Regina Pats, Red Deer skated to a 5-2 win, just a few days following a 4-3 overtime win in Swift Current.

They also have points in three straight given they took Moose Jaw to a shootout the night prior, earning a point in a 5-4 defeat.

Getting in that kind of groove is key for the Rebels right now as they’ve struggled to start the season, but improved Friday to 4-8-0-1.

Scoring summary

The visitors got on the board first Friday at the Centrium, with Julien Maze (6th) getting one on the power play at 4:01.

Then the captain, Talon Brigley (5th), stepped in, scoring to tie the game at one goal apiece, at 8:25. Jaxon Fuder and Matus Lisy assisted.

In the dying seconds of the opening period, and Red Deer on the man advantage, Matthew Gard (5th), with help from Beckett Hamilton, put the Rebels ahead 2-1 headed into the first intermission.

To the second, and 6:58 in, Zachary Lansard (5th) put one home for the Pats to make it 2-2.

After that, it was all Rebels.

Keith McInnis (3rd) put the Rebels ahead for good with another power play goal at 13:51 of the second — Gard and Brigley got the helpers.

Then with the goalie pulled, Landon MacSwain (4th), with another assist to Hamilton, hit the empty net with 2:06 left in the third; then Hamilton himself found the empty net with 42 seconds on the clock.

Matthew Kondro made 25 saves on 27 shots in the win for Red Deer, while Marek Schlenker stopped 21 of 24.
