Mayor-elect for the city of Red Deer Cindy Jefferies joined rdnewsNOW and The Everything Red Deer Podcast for a one-on-one, in studio interview shortly following the announcement of election results this week.

Topics discussed include the busy campaign, fellow mayoral candidates, her mayoral bid loss in 2013, priorities for council as the term begins Nov. 3, property taxes, dynamic staffing at Red Deer Emergency Services, homelessness, housing, Downtown desirability, crime and the RCMP, the delay in getting election results, the plan to widen the QEII through a precious piece of wetlands, the CPR Bridge project, and working with the Government of Alberta.

The City also shared late Thursday final voter turnout numbers.

158,263 votes were cast in the 2025 Municipal and School Board Elections, with 15,463 Red Deer residents taking part, which represents about 21 per cent of eligible voters. Additional details will be released in the days to come.
