Charges have been withdrawn for three individuals charged in a November 2024 incident where they were allegedly found in possession of weapons and drugs.

Brenton Peter Almond, 54, of Red Deer, Axel Martin-Grant, 34, of Red Deer, and Rain Yellowface, 26, a resident of the O’Chiese First Nation, had their charges withdrawn in Red Deer Court of Justice on Oct. 2, 2025.

According to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC), the counts were withdrawn after the Crown assessed the case and determined there was no reasonable prospect of conviction. As a result, PPSC officials confirm the matter is now closed.

The trio was previously scheduled for trial in Red Deer Court of Justice on Oct. 22, 2025.

It was on Nov. 13, 2024, when the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team says it located an unoccupied vehicle that had been reported stolen at a north-end business near 52 Avenue and 77 Street.

Members conducted surveillance on the vehicle, leading to the arrest of three individuals. Police alleged that fentanyl and multiple weapons, including a sawed-off shotgun, were found in the vehicle.

Almond was charged with eight counts, Yellowface at least nine, and Martin-Grant 10.
