Wetaskiwin RCMP have charged a Maskwacis man following a fatal two-vehicle collision in July.

Maskwacis resident Terrance Buffalo, 36, has been charged with two counts of impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm and two counts of impaired operation of a conveyance causing death.

This comes after Wetaskiwin RCMP attended the head-on collision while patrolling on July 1 on Highway 2A, south of Wetaskiwin.

Police found two people trapped inside a burning vehicle, and officers were able to get them out shortly before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.

Meanwhile, two people from the other vehicle involved were pronounced deceased at the scene, including a 61-year-old male resident of Van Nuys and a 64-year-old female resident of Wetaskiwin.

A collision analyst also attended and processed the scene, and the Wetaskiwin RCMP General Investigative Section investigated the incident.

Buffalo was arrested on Oct. 8, 2025, and held for a Judicial interim Release hearing. He was remanded into custody until his next court date on Oct. 28, 2025.
