On the weekend, the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Hockey team earned a road win. The RDP Queens Soccer team split their weekend series. The Kings Soccer team dropped their game in Calgary.

Hockey

Queens at Olds College of Agriculture & Technology | Thursday, October 9

The RDP Queens Hockey team (2-1) defeated the Broncos (2-1) by four (4-0) in Olds. Natalie Tychkowsky (Bachelor of Education) led the Polytechnic offensively with two goals and an assist. Camryn Ward and Victoria Longley added singles. Elizabeth Campbell, a fourth-year student-athlete from Black Diamond, made 17 saves, earning the shutout in the Queens’ net.

Soccer

Queens | RDP Main Field | Saturday, October 11

The RDP Queens picked up a 4-0 shutout victory over the fifth-seed University of Alberta Augustana Vikings (2-7-1). Kyra Remekie, Yuri Umino, Zoe Fitzsimmons and McKenna Leslie scored for the Queens. Beaumont’s Jana Leskewich (Bachelor of Education) earned the shutout for RDP.

RDP Queens at SAIT Trojans | Sunday, October 12

The second-place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Soccer team (8-3-0) dropped a 3-1 contest to the top-seed SAIT Trojans (10-0-0) in Calgary. Sein Furuyama, a third-year student-athlete from Kobe, Japan, scored the RDP Queens’ lone goal. The Trojans, Queens and Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks, from the ACAC Women’s Soccer South Division, have qualified for the ACAC Championship held October 24-26.

Kings at SAIT Trojans | Sunday, October 12

The fifth-seeded Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Soccer team (1-5-3) was downed 4-0 by the second-place SAIT Trojans (7-1-0) on the road. Edmonton’s Emmet Kenwell (Bachelor of Business Administration) made five saves for the Kings.
