RDP Athletes of the Week: Oct. 9-12

Oct 15, 2025 | 11:02 AM

Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Athletics is very proud to announce Natalie Tychkowsky (Queens hockey) and Korben Skjolde (Kings soccer) as the Boston Pizza RDP Athletes of the Week:

Natalie Tychkowsky – Queens hockey

Program – Bachelor of Education (1st)

Hometown – Smoky Lake, Alberta

Natalie Tychkowsky played an important role in helping the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens hockey team defeat the Olds College Broncos 4-0 on the road. The talented first-year forward scored the eventual game-winning goal at 1:39 of the opening frame. Smoky Lake’s Tychkowsky added her second goal about halfway through the middle frame. She also assisted on teammate Victoria Longley’s marker, which put the RDP Queens up 4-0 late in the final stanza. For her outstanding performance, Tychkowsky was named the Queens Player of the Game.

Her two goals rank second in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Hockey. Tychkowsky, a Bachelor of Education student, is tied for the most points (three) on the Queens with Longley and Mia McGregor.

This week, Tychkowsky and the RDP Queens will face off against the SAIT Trojans twice.

Korben Skjolde – Kings soccer

Program – Bachelor of Kinesiology (2nd)

Hometown – Calgary, Alberta

Korben Skjolde has been making an impact on the pitch for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings soccer team. Even though the RDP Kings dropped their weekend game 4-0 to the SAIT Trojans, the second-year forward put forth a tremendous effort, attempting to create offensive opportunities while paying attention to his defensive duties. Calgary’s Skjolde was named the Kings Player of the Game.

Skjolde has demonstrated continuous improvement throughout the season. On October 5, the Bachelor of Kinesiology student was also recognized as the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game against the first-place Medicine Hat College Rattlers at RDP.

On Sunday, October 19, Skjolde and the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings will host the Olds College Broncos at Setters Place in Red Deer.
