Oct 14, 2025 | 5:10 PM

Red Deer County has lifted its fire restriction.

The change came into effect as of 2 p.m. Tuesday, and is due to recent precipitation and colder temperatures.

Permits are now available online at www.rdcounty.ca/fire, where you can set up your account to obtain a burn permit. A fire permit is required for all open fires year-round, except for safe acceptable residential fire pits* within Red Deer County.

*Safe acceptable residential fire pits need to be:

• A height not exceeding 0.6 metres when measured from the surrounding grade to the top of the pit opening;

• Equipped with a mesh screen with opening no larger than 13mm;

• Enclosed sides made from bricks, concrete blocks, heavy gauge metal, or other non-combustible materials; and

• Not located over any underground utilities or under aboveground wires.
