Red Deer RCMP arrest Penhold man after drug seizure

Oct 7, 2025 | 4:55 PM

Red Deer RCMP have charged a 43-year-old Penhold man following an arrest and drug seizure last week.

The incident occurred on Oct. 2, at approximately 1:15 a.m. when a Red Deer RCMP general duty member was on proactive patrols in the Gaetz Avenue and 28 Street area.

The officer observed a suspicious person in a vehicle in a parking lot, who appeared to be slumped over in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The vehicle was also parked diagonally across multiple parking spots.

As police got closer to the vehicle, the driver drove away but was soon stopped.

As a result, police identified the driver of the vehicle, who was found to have outstanding warrants. While speaking with the driver, police also observed an open bag in the vehicle that appeared to be illicit drugs. After his arrest, officers seized 555 grams of methamphetamine, a weigh scale, plastic baggies, and other drug paraphernalia.

The man was simultaneously charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance and failure to comply with an undertaking.

Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, he was released with conditions to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Oct. 23.
