Red Deer woman sentenced in alleged auto theft and re-vinning operation
A 12-month conditional sentence has been given to a Red Deer woman charged following a year-long investigation into an alleged organized auto theft and re-vinning operation.
Sherry Mackenzie, 68, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of Justice on Sept. 15, 2025, after being convicted on one count of laundering proceeds of crime. Four other charges against her were withdrawn, while Mackenzie was also ordered to pay restitution.
Mackenzie was previously scheduled for trial in Stony Plain Court of Justice from Oct. 1-3, 2025.
Co-accused Joseph Chlala, 24, of Calgary, is scheduled for trial in Evansburg Court of Justice from Feb. 2-6, 2026.
