Ponoka offering day camps during teachers’ strike

Oct 1, 2025 | 4:16 PM

Day camps are being offered by the town of Ponoka should the impending teachers’ strike go ahead beginning Oct. 6.

Camps will be for ages 6-12 and take place at the Ponoka Arena from 8-4 daily — except for weekends and statutory holidays.

“These day camps are designed to support families in our community by providing engaging, fun and affordable recreational programming for children to enjoy each day” said Andrew Jones, Manager of Parks, Recreation and Facilities.

The daily rate for the day camps is $30 per child. Participants can register online on the town’s website at Ponoka.ca/p/recreation-programming or in-person at the Ponoka Arena Complex during these hours:

• Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.

• Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

There are plenty of other activities that children and youth can enjoy during this time in the Town of Ponoka, including:

• Weekdays and weekend public skating and shinny hockey at the Ponoka Arena Complex. To view the schedule, please visit Ponoka.ca/p/ice-season-programming;

• Checking out the new expanded Multi-Use Skate Park in downtown Ponoka. To learn more, please visit https://www.ponoka.ca/p/multi-use-skate-park; and
