Lacombe opens 49C Pedestrian Plaza downtown
Lacombe has officially opened up the revamped 49C Pedestrian Plaza.
The city is calling it a dynamic space, and one that is the result of hard work by city council, city admin, community partners, and of course input from Lacombe residents and businesses.
“This plaza holds special meaning for our community,” CAO Matthew Goudy said. “The vision for this space began as part of the early conversations in the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan (DARP) committee. We wanted to create a place that wasn’t just for passing through, but for gathering, connecting, and enjoying our community together.”
According to the city, partners in this project include Olds Concrete, Stantec, and O2 Designs, as well as funding from the Government of Alberta. Additionally, the DARP committee’s commitment and expertise played a critical role in bringing the plaza to life.
