Red Deer’s CIBC Run for the Cure goes Oct. 5

The annual Red Deer edition CIBC Run for the Cure is fast-approaching.

The run aims to raise money for breast cancer research, and of course awareness of the topic.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian women, according to the Canadian Cancer Society, which facilitates the Run for the Cure.

In 2024, 30,500 women in Canada were diagnosed, with 15 women dying from it every single day.

Also noteworthy is the fact approximately 290 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year.

The local run is slated for Oct. 5 at Bower Ponds.

T-shirt pickup is at 8 a.m., with the opening ceremonies at 9:15, then the 1 km and 5 km run/walk will start at 10.
