A Red Deer elementary school teacher has been named one of three recipients of the Inspiring Educator Award.

Presented by the Edmonton Space & Science Foundation, the award is presented to teachers who spark passion for science in their students. This year, they chose three teachers from Northern Alberta.

Chayce Moon, a teacher at the Glendale Sciences and Technology School, was selected as a recipient of the award, which was created in 2024 to mark the 40th anniversary of Telus World of Science in Edmonton.

“Chayce fosters a classroom where curiosity thrives and discovery is celebrated,” the Edmonton Space & Science Foundation stated. “Through experiments, model building, and exploring nature, she helps students connect science theory to real-world experiences in memorable ways.”

Each recipient will receive a $1,000 classroom award that will enhance learning as well as a complimentary Telus World of Science field trip.

“The Inspiring Educator Award shines a spotlight on teachers who go above and beyond to make science engaging, accessible, and exciting for their students,” said Constance Scarlett, President & CEO of Telus World of Science – Edmonton. “We look forward to seeing how this year’s recipients use their classroom funds and Science Centre programs to continue their efforts.”
