George’s Farm Centre Ltd. ordered to pay $108K after workplace injury
A farm equipment dealership based out of Penhold has been penalized under the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Code.
George’s Farm Centre Ltd. pleaded guilty on Sept. 19, 2025, to one count under the OHS Code for allowing a worker to remain within range of a moving load or any part of powered mobile equipment that created a danger to the worker.
As a result, the business was ordered to pay $108,000 under a creative sentence to the University of Calgary to develop hazard-recognition workplace simulation software. The crown also withdrew six other counts.
This comes following an incident that happened on June 23, ,2025, on the side of a highway in Lacombe County. According to a media release from the provincial government, a worker had unhitched an air seeder tank from a tractor and the tank rolled back. The worker was seriously injured while trying to stop it.
