Rotary Club of Red Deer’s annual Black Tie Bingo returns in October

Sep 17, 2025 | 4:08 PM

The Rotary Club of Red Deer will hold its annual Black Tie Bingo: “Dress to Dazzle” fundraising event in October.

The 30th annual edition is set for Oct. 30, 2025 at the Red Deer Resort & Casino in benefit of Camp Alexo through Youth HQ.

The fundraiser was first launched in 1995 by Ray MacBeth and John Donald and since then, has formed into a signature community event.

Every year they’ve raised funds for charitable organizations across Alberta and this year chose Camp Alexo, which is dedicated to building brighter futures for children and youth.

“The Rotary Club of Red Deer has been a partner with Camp Alexo since the beginning—helping provide the seed funds that established the camp in 1984,” said John Johnston, community engagement manager with Youth HQ. “Over the past 41 years, more than 27,000 youth have been impacted by Camp Alexo. With support from Black Tie Bingo, we can continue ensuring that camp remains accessible for children and families, offering a place to learn, grow, and create lifelong memories.”

Those in attendance will experience an evening of fine dining, lively auctions, and bingo games.

Continuing a cherished tradition, the Red Deer Royals will once again serve as both coat check and honour guard for the evening.

“Thirty years of Black Tie Bingo, and the heart of the event remains the same—bringing people together to support great causes,” said Brett Mauthe, Downtown Rotary Club president. “This year, we’re proud to shine a light on Camp Alexo and the incredible work they do for youth. We invite everyone to join us for an evening of elegance, generosity, and celebration.”

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m. with the evening wrapping up by 9 p.m.

Tickets are now available for $200 each with the proceeds going to Camp Alexo.
