RDP Athletics recap: Sept. 13-14

This past week, the Red Deer Polytechnic Rodeo team participated in its first rodeo of the year.

The RDP Soccer teams picked up points in the standings against the Ambrose University Lions.

Here is a summary of the recent competition:

Rodeo

Central Alberta College Rodeo Team (CACRT) and RDP Rodeo Shootout | Benalto Agricultural Society | September 13-14

The Red Deer Polytechnic Rodeo team achieved several top ten results at the CACRT and RDP Shootout Rodeo in Benalto. On Saturday, Elyse Terpsma (22.517) finished seventh in Pole Bending. Kaybree Zunti ranked sixth (8.9) in Goat Tying and seventh (3.6) in Breakaway Roping on Sunday.

Queens Soccer vs SAIT Trojans | RDP Main Field | Saturday, September 13

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Soccer team (2-1-0) was edged 2-1 by the SAIT Trojans (3-0-0). Olivia Lundell, a second-year midfielder from Red Deer, scored the Queens’ lone goal.

Queens Soccer at Ambrose University | Sunday, September 14

The second place RDP Queens (3-1-0) earned a 2-0 victory over the fifth seed Ambrose University Lions (0- 2-2) in Calgary. McKenna Leslie (Bachelor of Education) and Yuri Umino (Academic Upgrading) recorded goals for RDP. Beaumont’s Jana Leskewich (Bachelor of Education) earned the shutout in the Queens’ net.

Kings Soccer vs SAIT Trojans | RDP Main Field | Saturday, September 13

The Kings Soccer team (0-2-1) dropped a 4-0 decision to the SAIT Trojans (2-0-0) at home. Dylan Godbout made five saves in the Kings’ net.

Kings Soccer at Ambrose University | Sunday, September 14

The fifth place RDP Kings (0-2-2) and the fourth seed Ambrose University Lions (1-1-1) played to a 2-2 draw. Red Deer’s Ajdin Sarcevic and Japan’s Mikito Funase scored for the Polytechnic. Kings goalkeeper Emmet Kenwell (Bachelor of Business Administration) made five saves.
