Driver dinged hard Friday after car flips on Taylor Drive

Red Deer RCMP gave a hefty fine to the driver of a vehicle that wound up on its roof on Friday.

Cpl. Troy Savinkoff with Alberta RCMP confirms it was 4:12 p.m. on Aug. 29 when Mounties responded to a call of single-vehicle collision on Taylor Drive, near 22 Street.

Savinkoff says the vehicle, a Nissan 240 SX, was flipped on its roof.

Somehow, the driver, nor the one passenger, suffered more than minor injuries.

But the driver was given a fine for careless driving under the Traffic Safety Act worth $567, and six demerits.

RCMP said Tuesday that independent witnesses of the crash said the car was driving at a high rate of speed and flipped after hitting a curb.

RCMP previously stated there were observations of a toilet on the road, but that has since been deemed an error.
