Red Deer spray parks to remain open until Sept. 7

The City of Red Deer announced its spray parks will remain open because of ongoing warm weather in the forecast.

The city says Central Spray & Play and Woody’s Spray Park will now be open until the end of the day on Sunday, Sept. 7, weather permitting. The extension was made possible because of several recent hot days.

However, they may close the spray parks earlier if conditions become unsuitable for them to remain open.

Typically, the spray parks close after the September long weekend along with the Recreation Centre outdoor pool.

Once the spray parks are closed, crews will begin winterizing and completing end-of-season maintenance and repairs.

In addition, the City of Red Deer aquatic amenities will return to fall operating hours after this weekend. The Recreation Centre outdoor pool will close for the season at 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1.
