Aug 29, 2025 | 5:04 PM

Two Red Deer families are grieving following a fatal dirtbike accident this past Sunday.

RCMP confirm to rdnewsNOW that they were called at about 11:06 p.m. to an incident in the alleyway behind Erickson Drive, near Eldridge Crescent.

There, members discovered that a 32-year-old male from Red Deer had died on scene.

A 29-year-old woman from Red Deer was sent to hospital in critical condition.

RCMP say preliminary investigation determined the man had been riding the dirtbike, with the woman riding as a passenger, when they hit a pothole and then slammed into a fencepost.

The woman was a friend of the man’s wife, family have since shared.

They’ve also identified the man as Austin Vivian, saying he leaves behind a wife and four-year-old son.

They also shared that the woman’s name is Reese Mitchell, who is also a mother to a three-year-old daughter.

As of Friday, a friend shares, her condition is stable.

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Austin and Reese here.

RCMP continue to investigate.
