Maskwacis RCMP arrest resident for firearms trafficking

Aug 28, 2025 | 7:44 PM

Maskwacis RCMP arrested and charged a resident after he allegedly acquired and distributed multiple firearms that were recovered from crime scenes.

Maskwacis RCMP began an investigation in February 2025 into illegally purchased firearms in the community. As a result, the RCMP identified a suspect and observed that several firearms purchased by the suspect were recovered at crime scenes in Maskwacis and other detachments and provinces.

RCMP have charged 24-year-old Colby Ray Buffalo with firearms trafficking and transfer without authority.

Police say they are continuing efforts to locate outstanding firearms and this investigation is ongoing.

“Maskwacis RCMP continue efforts to reduce the amount of illegally used firearms in Maskwacis,” said Inspector Richard McKay in a media release. “Part of that effort includes investigating and charging those that are acquiring and distributing firearms for an illegal purpose.”

If you have any information regarding the location of these firearms, contact the Maskwacis RCMP at 780-585-4600.
