Pair from Lethbridge arrested in Ponoka

Two people from Lethbridge have been charged following an alleged incident in Ponoka.

RCMP say it was about 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 19 when members observed a stolen Ford F350 at a local pawn shop off of Hwy 2A.

Officers were able to quickly arrest both occupants without incident.

The driver is said to have provided a false name, with subsequent investigation identifying him as Kevin Wright, 56.

Wright has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000;
  • Obstruct peace officer;
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order (x2);
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order.

Wright was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Sept. 19, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Ponoka.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 56-year-old resident of Lethbridge, Doris Poleman, was charged with;

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Poleman was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released from custody with her next court date set for Sept. 19, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Ponoka.
