International Overdose Awareness Day event set for this Friday in Red Deer

Aug 27, 2025 | 7:42 PM

An event to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day is set for this Friday in Red Deer.

From noon to 3 p.m. at the Rotary Picnic Park, near the gazebo, Moms Stop the Harm and Turning Point Society will be gathering to remember those who’ve lost their lives due to drug overdose.

The event will begin with opening remarks at 12 p.m. followed by a moment of silence, speeches, and a walk to City Hall at 3 p.m. where attendees will come together in solidarity and remember their loved ones.

From 11:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., there will be a silent auction to support Turning Point Society in Red Deer, who announced earlier this month it is losing all of its provincial funding, effective Nov. 1.
