The Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools’ fifth annual Life Chances 50/50 Lottery is officially underway.

One winner will take home up to $25,000 in cash after purchasing a ticket that will help create a brighter future for the students of Red Deer Public Schools.

Ticket sales are now live and will remain open until Tuesday, Oct. 7, followed by the draw on Oct. 8.They can be purchased in packages including 25 for $50, 10 for $25, or one for $10.

Last year, the lottery raised over $29,000 with a Red Deer Public principal taking home $14,765.

“This lottery isn’t just about winning a great prize – it’s about changing lives for students,” said Kristine Plastow, Chair of the Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools in a media release. “Funds raised during the lottery go straight into programs that help kids succeed in school and in life. Whether it’s making sure children are ready for Kindergarten, helping them learn to read, or giving them the support they need to graduate, every ticket purchased makes a significant difference.”

The division has supported thousands of students over the years through programs such as Bright Start, Reading College, Step Up and Finish Line.

Plastow said these programs make a real difference in the lives of kids and help them reach their full potential.

“Buying a ticket is such a simple way to be part of that impact,” she added. “Our community has always been incredibly generous. When you buy a ticket, you’re not only entering to win a great prize, you’re helping kids right here in Red Deer.”
