A pair of central Alberta athletes will compete for gold starting tomorrow at the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation’s (IWWF) World Waterski Championships.
From Aug. 26-31 in Recetto, Italy, 15 Canadians including Innisfail’s Dorien Llewellyn and Olds’ Ryan Dodd will represent their country against the best in the world.
“Canada has a proud tradition of success on the world stage, and this team reflects the strength and depth of our program,” said Kyle Hunter, High-Performance Director & Sport Coordinator at Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada. “We are confident in the abilities of our athletes to deliver exceptional performances in Recetto, both in individual events and in the overall team competition.”
Dodd, who new resides in Palm Bay, Florida, will compete in the men’s jump event and will also take part in the overall team event. The 40-year-old is the reigning five-time world jump champion and captured gold in the men’s jump event at the 2023 World Championship.
