Central Alberta under heat wave expected to last all week

Aug 25, 2025 | 12:46 PM

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says Red Deer and much of central Alberta will be under a heat event that’s expected to last over the next seven days.

Beginning Monday, daytime high temperatures are expected to reach 29 to 33 degrees Celsius, not only in central, but also northern Alberta. It expands as well to portions of southern Alberta.

Meanwhile, overnight low temperatures will range between 9 to 13 degrees, offering some relief from the heat.

Officials say residents should reschedule outdoor activities to the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler. The extreme heat can affect everyone’s health and if you must be outside, it’s important to monitor for signs of heat exhaustion. These signs include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue.
