The Central Alberta Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Network is inviting the public to a pair of upcoming events this September as part of FASD Awareness Month.

On Sept. 9, the Central Alberta FASD network will hold a free public event on International FASD Day at Bower Ponds from 3 to 7 p.m.

The event is meant to raise awareness, advocate, and celebrate the strengths of individuals impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.

There will be a barbecue, ice cream, boat rentals, giveaways, outdoor games, face painting, and more.

In addition, they also plan to host their annual conference on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Westerner Park.

The ticketed event, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., organizers say will bring together those who are dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in the FASD field.

The event will include special guests Jeff Noble and Shannon Butt.

Noble is the Founder and CEO of Noble Initiatives Inc., an organization that provides education and support to those impacted and caring for individuals with FASD. Meantime, Butt is a peer supporter, public speaker, and movement & meditation teacher living with FASD.

Tickets are now on sale for the conference and can be purchased online at eventbrite.com.
