Sylvan Lake student to receive educational scholarship

Sylvan Lake’s Julia Dillion will receive a $5,000 scholarship from Canada Company, as a child of a fallen soldier.

She’s just one of 15 students from across the nation who are set to receive $75,000 in scholarships.

Dillion and the other recipients will receive their scholarship at a reception and awards ceremony in Toronto on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 10:30 a.m.

She will be attending Red Deer Polytechnic in the fall where she will take the computer programming program.

Canada Company, founded in 2006, is a non-profit charitable organization that helps members of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families. Since 2007, they’ve awarded 275 educational scholarships worth $1.24 million.
