Severe thunderstorm watch in place for Red Deer and area
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in place for Red Deer and surrounding areas largely to the west, south, and east of the city.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), severe thunderstorms are expected to develop Wednesday afternoon and move east into the evening.
Meteorologists say these severe thunderstorms will be capable of producing damaging hail, very strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Hail is expected to be the primary threat in the afternoon with wind gusts becoming the main threat through the evening hours.
ECCC reminds residents that when thunder roars, go indoors as lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
