Aug 18, 2025 | 10:42 AM

UPDATE: Aug. 19, 2025, 12:10 p.m.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is advising that Ashton Deschamps was located and arrested in North Battleford, Sk.

Mounties say he will appear in court and then be escorted back to Alberta.

According to police, there will be an update once court proceedings are scheduled in Alberta.

Maskwacis RCMP are looking for a man allegedly responsible for a homicide on the Louis Bull First Nation.

The Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has charged Louis Bull First Nation resident Ashton Deschamps, 20, with second degree murder but police continue to search for him.

The Alberta RCMP are turning to the public to provide any information on his whereabouts. Police say the public should not approach Deschamps if he is seen. He has associations to the communities of Maskwacis, Edmonton, and North Battleford, Sask.

He is described as five-feet two-inches tall and 106 pounds with brown eyes, black hair, and a medium complexion. Police believe his head may have been recently shaved.

This comes after Maskwacis RCMP responded to a call on Aug. 13 at 2:30 p.m. to a firearms complaint at a residence on Louis Bull First Nation.

EMS also responded but upon arrival, 31-year-old Chanse Twins, a resident of Ermineskin First Nation, was found dead. As a result, the Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation.

An autopsy on Aug. 15 at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner Office in Edmonton, determined the cause of death to be a homicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
