Blackfalds bringing back popular Street Dance event

Aug 2, 2025 | 11:00 AM

Blackfalds’ Summer Culture Series is coming to a close, but not without one last big bang in the form of a Street Dance revival.

The Town of Blackfalds and the Heart of Blackfalds Society will be bringing back to life the well-loved Blackfalds Street Dance on Aug. 21.

“This summer, attendees have experienced magicians, animals, comedy, circus acts, and music. We look forward to bringing the series to a close with an incredible collaboration of efforts from different areas of the community to entertain and bring the community together,” shared Sports and Events Coordinator Kurt Jensen.

The Street Dance will feature a partnership between the municipality, Heart of Blackfalds Society, local downtown businesses, and local organizations. There will be charity fundraisers, multiple games and activities, food, DJ, fire truck tours, and plenty of opportunities for dancing and connection.

“The Heart of Blackfalds Society is thrilled to lead the revival of the Blackfalds Street Dance! Many of our members fondly remember taking part in this community celebration nearly two decades ago, and we are excited to help bring the magic back,” said Heart of Blackfalds President Trent Kroetsch.

“This year, you will find us right in the heart of the action: hosting cornhole games with friendly competition and selling our signature merchandise and Love Locks for the heart at the Abbey Centre. Join us as we celebrate the spirit of Blackfalds, old memories, and new connections.”

The Street Dance will be from 5-8 p.m., with Broadway Avenue closed for the event from Railway St. to Indiana St.

A map of activities will be finalized the first week of August and will be available at www.blackfalds.ca/events. It is free to attend, although some activities will require payment, like food and monetary donations.
