A Red Deer man accused of child luring has been sentenced to nearly three years in jail.

Terry Haskell, 72, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of Justice on July 28, 2025, after being convicted on counts of sexual interference with a minor under the age of 16, and failing to comply with a prohibition order. Five other charges against Haskell were withdrawn.

He was given a total sentence of 1,020 days in jail and credit of 530 days for time already served, leaving him with 490 days left to serve behind bars.

It was on Aug. 10, 2024, when Red Deer RCMP received a report that an older male had offered candy to a number of child victims, invited them into his apartment, and then sexually assaulted them. Mounties allege this type of interaction reportedly occurred on several different occasions with different children from Aug. 10, 2022-Aug. 10, 2024.

Terry Haskell was originally charged with:

  • Sexual interference with a minor under the age of 16;
  • Sexual assault of a child under the age of 16;
  • Invitation to sexual touching;
  • Indecent acts;
  • Breach of probation (x2).

In 2021, Haskell, who was 68 at the time, pled guilty and received a six-month jail sentence plus three years of probation, after he exposed himself to a person under 16. He was also charged in 2019 for allegedly showing a naked picture of himself to a child.
