Red Deer Rebels captain Ollie Josephson has been invited to the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase by Hockey Canada.

The 19-year-old forward will join 43 other players at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota from July 27 to Aug. 2 to compete for a chance to play for his country at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in December.

The Victoria, B.C. native will suit up in three exhibition games during the showcase against Finland, Sweden, and the U.S. in preparation for the tournament. They’ll also conduct various practices and scrimmages.

The players will be split into two teams for practices and for an intra-squad game on July 29.

Josephson previously suited up for Team Canada at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the 2024 IIHF U18 World Championship. He won gold in both tournaments.

Last season, Josephson scored 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points in 48 games.

Rebels athletic therapist Terence Robertson was also named to the team staff for the tournament. Robertson is fresh off gold medal wins at the 2025 IIHF U18 World Championship and the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

The 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship is set to take place from Dec. 26, 2025 to Jan. 5, 2026 in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
