RCMP respond to collision on Highway 2 south of Ponoka

The RCMP are on scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 2 southwest of Ponoka.

RCMP cpl. Troy Savinkoff says at 12:06 p.m., Ponoka RCMP as well as other units attended a collision involving two semi-tractor trailer units.

Southbound traffic is completely blocked and motorists should use alternate routes. EMS was dispatched but police have no information on injuries at this time.

According to Alberta 511, the collision took place just south of Township Road 424 and that a detour is in place via Highway 53.

An update will be provided when more information becomes available.
