Edmonton drug seizure involves Red Deer crime reduction unit

Jul 23, 2025 | 9:40 AM

The Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction was part of a significant drug seizure earlier this month in the Edmonton area.

Alberta RCMP say it was on July 16 when the Alberta Community Response Team executed a search warrant on a home in west Edmonton, a storage locker in Sherwood Park, and a vehicle in Edmonton.

The search warrants resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old Edmonton resident.

Police also located and seized:

  • 2946 grams of Cocaine;
  • 8 Grams of Methamphetamine;
  • 236 Oxycodone Tablets;
  • $65,810 Canadian currency; and
  • Numerous Cell Phones.

The man was on a release order from being charged with three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in February 2025; as a result of this investigation, he was identified to be in breach of his conditions.

The man has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (x3);
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000; and,
  • Breaching a Release Order (x5).

The accused was held for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody. He is to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Sherwood Park July 23.

Alberta RCMP’s Community Response Teams focus outreach strategies combined with targeted enforcement and engagement with police partners and community to improve community safety and wellness, reduce victimization, and address the social determinants contributing to the root cause of crime.

In all, the investigation was helped along by the Sheriff Investigative Support Unit Surveillance Team, St. Albert RCMP, Red Deer Crime Reduction Team, and the Edmonton Police Service, over the course of a week.
