The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery is prepping to host its second annual Heritage Day Hootenanny.

The event goes from 12-7 on Aug. 4, at the south end of Rotary Recreation Park, and inside the museum.

“We know affordability is a going concern within our community, so we are aiming to produce a multi-faceted, high quality, creative and cultural event that is free and fun for anyone to attend,” said Chandra Kastern, executive director.

“We’ve been busy planning for some great art making, live music performances, food trucks, museum tours and a whole area for children and families to explore.”

With the stage being hosted by Boots Graham, live music will be running throughout the afternoon through to the early evening with performances by:

Red Hot Hayseeds
Tim Hus
Boots Graham
Steph Strings
Noeline Hofmann

Additionally, in partnership with the Red Deer Arts Council, the Hootenanny will facilitate the relaunch of the infamous Art Walk. The southeast part of Rotary Recreation Park will host an extensive Art Walk & Market with all kinds of creative treasures and unique finds for folks to check out.

Also happening at the Hootenanny:

● Tours of the museum galleries will run on the half hour
● Art making is being hosted in the Stewart Discovery Studio
● Woodblock printing is happening in the School House in Heritage Square
● Buckaroo’s Hollow will be open in the southwest part of Rotary Recreation Park
