Premier Smith takes part in Westerner Days parade

Following an Alberta Next Panel town hall discussion in Red Deer Tuesday night, Premier Danielle Smith took part in the annual Westerner Days parade Wednesday morning.

She was joined by Minister of Primary and Preventative Health Services and Red Deer-North MLA Adriana LaGrange, as well as Red Deer-South MLA Jason Stephan.

Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi also took part in the parade along with municipal council members from Red Deer, Red Deer County, and Penhold.

The parade, however, mainly featured decorated floats from dozens of local businesses and organizations, including the RCMP, Red Deer Royals, and Rotary Sunrise Club of Red Deer, among them.

Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown Red Deer to enjoy the annual celebration to kick-off Westerner Days.

It takes place at Westerner Park of course, and runs from July 16-20, 2025.
