Ponoka Aquaplex to hold free activities during national drowning prevention week
The Town of Ponoka announced the Aquaplex will host free activities in hopes of raising awareness for national drowning prevention week.
From July 20 to 26, some of the activities they’ll offer includes a free swim and barbecue on Tuesday, July 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. as well as a daily swim to survive challenge and a pool scavenger hunt during public swim. During the scavenger hunt participants will search for items around the pool and be entered to win a prize.
According to the Town, over 400 Canadians die in water-related incidents every year.
National Drowning Prevention Week is meant to help build skills and raise awareness about these preventable tragedies.
