Red Deer’s average rent prices among the lowest in Canada

The City of Red Deer has one of the lowest average rent prices across Canada in terms of renting a one or two bedroom property.

According to the June 2025 national rent report from Rentals.ca and Urbanation, Red Deer is ranked 53rd out of 60 listed communities for average rent by city and unit type.

On average, a one bedroom unit cost $1,296 per month to rent in Red Deer in June which is a 0.9 per cent increase from May and a two per cent increase year-over-year. A two bedroom unit on average cost $1,550 per month in June, up 4.1 per cent year-over-year.

Only Regina, Saskatoon, Fort McMurray, Medicine Hat, Lloydminster, and St. John’s had lower average rents among the top Canadian markets.

The most expensive market is North Vancouver, where on average, a one bedroom unit costs $2,602 per month to rent and a two bedroom costs $3,567 per month.

The report explained that at a national level, despite nine months of decline, average asking rents in Canada remain 4.1 per cent higher than the level from two years earlier at $2,042 and 11.9 per cent higher than the level from three years earlier at $1,899.

Currently, the average asking price for all residential properties in Canada is $2,125, which is a decline of 2.7 per cent year-over-year.

Meantime, Alberta and B.C. were the only two provinces who had a three per cent decrease in average rent prices year-over-year.

Alberta has an average rent price of $1,741 per month year-over-year. Only Manitoba ($1,625) and Saskatchewan ($1,396) were cheaper.
