City of Red Deer and Red Deer County unveil new joint Intermunicipal Development Plan
The City of Red Deer and Red Deer County have officially adopted a new Intermunicipal Development Plan.
The two municipalities had previously been operating with an Intermunicipal Development Plan that was set in 2007. The new updated plan, authorities say sets a renewed vision for collaboration between the city and county.
“This is a proud moment for both municipalities,” said City of Red Deer Mayor, Ken Johnston. “This updated IDP reflects the strength of our working relationship and our shared belief that regional collaboration is the key to building strong, resilient communities. It’s a forward-looking plan that not only guides how we grow but how we work together with trust and mutual respect.”
The plan was developed through a three-year partnership between the Regional Collaboration Committee (RCC) and municipal administrations. They also included input from residents, businesses, and Indigenous communities.
