Cross-Canada run for mental health to make pit-stop in Lacombe

Jul 1, 2025 | 8:00 AM

A former B.C. law enforcement officer currently running across Canada for mental health dollars and awareness will be in Lacombe this coming weekend.

The ‘Sach-In Motion’ run is taking the Ontario-born and raised Sachin Singh Latti close to 100 kilometres every day — or the equivalent of 75 super-marathons.

That includes to Lacombe, where he’ll host a community run day on July 6 (more details below).

On what inspired him and is allowing him to take on this massive feat, Latti tells rdnewsNOW it was far from just one thing, and that it’s about purpose, not athletic pedigree.

“I went through a divorce, struggled with the effects of the pandemic, and after nearly two decades in law enforcement, I experienced a major depressive episode. I was eventually diagnosed by my doctor and prescribed medication,” he says.

“All of it created a perfect storm that forced me to confront my mental health. Having been a bodybuilder and Jiu-Jitsu guy, I couldn’t do any sort of physical activity except for running. I don’t identify as a runner to this day, but it was the only way I could keep my body moving.”

While Latti aims to raise $1 million for five Canadian mental health charities, the importance of the awareness piece cannot be understated.

“We’re not just passing through towns — we’re showing up, having conversations, and making space for people who are struggling,” he says, adding there’s been some surprises in the first several days of the run, which began June 16 in Victoria.

“Within the first 10 days, we were overwhelmed by how many reached out — on the road, through messages, and even inviting us into their homes to share their stories. That human response made me pivot the entire campaign. This run isn’t about me — it’s about creating moments of connection for people who need it.”

Latti insists: “If you’re struggling, know this: You’re not alone. So reach out to us. Speak up. Ask for help. And always — keep moving forward.”
